The
Pauwels MiniSub is an evolution and development of the MicroSub design intended
to replace the ESI type Minisub with a more cost effective and compact system.
Using a similar arrangement to the USA type Padmount transformer the Pauwels
MiniSub range is fitted with HV Bay-O-Net withdrawable HV fuses in
combination with HRC backup fuses in-tank as standard and a 3 way 3 phase
outgoing fuse distribution unit. Alternative LV systems include LV circuit
breakers or fuse switch units. HV termination can be by plug in bushings or by
conventional dry type cable box. The unit shown above was developed with
respect to the defined needs of a major UK utility and their operational
systems. Other UK utilities are also now using this type of
unit. The original ESI type Minisub used an oil fuse switch for HV switching and protection. While HV switching has obvious advantages the fact is that in many applications the switching facility is only rarely used, if at all during the lifetime of the unit. The Pauwels MiniSub keeps cost and size down by not having these rarely used HV switching facilities. HV isolation can be achieved by withdrawing the HV fuses while the unit is de-energised. Temporary generation can be connected via the LV distribution unit. ![]() The MiniSub, as the name suggests is a little bigger than our MicroSub unit but still a very compact product. Double front access doors enable access to the HV connection box and the LV equipment. Once again, in the unlikely event of problems with the transformer the ease of installation and handling means that a replacement unit can be quickly fitted to minimise loss of supply for customers. The faulty unit is then taken away for service off site. Back to Package Subs |
